Have you ever walked into a fancy restaurant in pajamas?
Have you ever done so, and noticed that everyone else in the restaurant was just as casually dressed?
Welcome to Dish.
There is only one location for this restaurant, but it's worth the trip.
Whether you are sitting at the bar, the coffee tables, or sitting down for a meal. You're in for a treat.
Not only do the chefs go all out in their artistry, the entire menu is full of goodies guaranteed to expand your palate.
The closest thing to regular you can order at this Bistro is a soft drink. Everything else is hand picked for quality and flavor.
Have you ever had a grilled salad?
A new take on chili?
A savory pumpkin soup, just barely sweet?
A desert so delicious you'd rather explode than stop eating?
Every dish made from local ingredients. From the valley of Charlestown, to the hills of Inwood. The furthest they go for ingredients seems to be the PA border. And only the most exotic.
Their ever changing menu offers a wide variety for those who prefer the fancier foods, to those who prefer something a little more simple.
However, even the simplest dishes (such as a common Cesar salad) have been perfected by way of taste, and quality.
You will not find a bad beer.
You will not find a bad wine.
The only selections of coffee they carry are the very best you could buy at a reasonable price.
You may not like what you order, but not for a lack of trying on their part.
I will confess some of the many things I tried there were not to my liking.
Nothing tasted bad.
Nothing was overcooked.
Nothing was over-spiced.
However, my ignorance of food and it's brilliance wasn't evident to me until tonight.
Not until I forced myself to keep eating what I found strange and unusual did I really appreciate the flavor, texture, aroma, consistency.
This Bistro, I would never recommend to someone who's pallet does not expand beyond the nearest fast food restaurant.
Even upper class fast food restaurants.
However, if you are willing to dive head first into the world of hand crafted meals, I assure you, you will find no disappointment here.
Try the coffee, try the beer, try the soup, and the salad, and an entree. Try the deserts.
Bring extra people with you, don't order the same thing twice.
Pass the meals around so everyone can try a bite.
(I recommend this method specifically for the deserts)
And, when trying each bite, first, sip your water. Then close your eyes so all of your other senses might focus on the true brilliance of this meal.
